The Bresle method of testing surfaces for salt contamination is recognized by ISO and ASTM standards.  The DeFelsko SST test probe is an easy and accurate way to conduct these tests.  Test patches are required to perform them and DeFelsko has multiple options, as follows:

• PosiPatch™.  This innovative product utilizes a reusable patch, held by a magnetic ring against the surface.  Available in 2 configurations:
  • Rigid ring.  Preferred for flat surfaces or round surfaces with greater than 40 inch diameter.

The PosiTector® CMM IS – DeFelsko’s solution for In Situ Concrete Moisture Metering conforming to ASTM F2170 testing standards. Innovative and simple to use, this PosiTector Concrete Moisture Meter offers the highest levels of testing accuracy, helping to prevent costly concrete coating failures. This group of products are stand-alone voltage testers for the High Voltage Holiday Detectors.  Although the PosiTest® HHD units have built-in voltmeters with a traceable calibration certificate, other brands may not, and some standards call for standalone voltmeter verification.

The Flat Sand Valve is legacy metering technology, where the metering is performed by sliding a lever to open and close the abrasive port.  It is simple in design and relatively inexpensive, but has a few limitations.  Details as follows:

• Slide-plate metering design, controlled by lever

Each DeFelsko instrument family is factory calibrated and is designed to be ready-to-use upon arrival.  Best practice and specifications determine when instruments should have their calibrations rechecked.

For the PosiTector UTG probes, DeFelsko offers five different variations of stainless steel Step Blocks that are factory certified for checking their calibration, as follows:

Thickness Standards are used to verify the accuracy and operation of coating thickness gauges.  As a component of ISO 9000 or in-house quality control procedures, they are a practical alternative to sending instruments to DeFelsko for calibration.

These Plastic Shims (aka foils) are low-cost alternative to coated metal plates.  They are available in Certified (individual shims or full sets) and in Un-Certified sets.  Accuracy is somewhat less than metal plates and they are more sensitive to heat. They are intended for use over a Zero Plate, or over an uncoated substrate.

A set of un-certified plastic shims is included with most electronic DeFelsko coating thickness gauges.  Replacement sets and certified options are available here as follows:
