Oil Storage Tank

The owner passed out Christmas bonus checks like never before…

A customer from South Carolina contacted BlastOne seeking a solution to an urgent, difficult blasting challenge.

The good news

The US military was commissioning him to blast one of their oil storage tanks.

The bad news

The entire project was to be completed in only two weeks.

Previous work cleaning these tanks had always taken three weeks of solid blasting. Plus he always used 10 truckloads of abrasive. The customer ordered new high-performance blasting equipment from BlastOne and 10 truckloads of GemBlast Abrasive.

BlastOne sent an application engineer with expertise in getting maximum results from GemBlast to the jobsite the day before Christmas to provide advice and ensure the project started without any hiccups. The contactor called BlastOne just 13 days later to say the project was finished 10% ahead of the US military’s demanding schedule — and at a cost 25% less than what he’d budgeted. He also wanted to know what to do with the spare five truckloads of GemBlast abrasive that he never needed. BlastOne told him to simply send it back and the unused portion would be deducted from his bill.

An employee told us the very next week:

The boss made so much money on that project because he finished early that he handed out bonus checks like never before!

Results

  • Used half the amount of abrasive
