Pump Size calculator

To properly size a pump for your application, you need to know the minimum pressure required at the pump to overcome the pressure loss in the fluid line, from the pump to the dispense valve.

The following information is required to properly calculate a “simple” (No elevation) pressure loss from the pump to the dispense valve. You can fill in the blue numbers.

PSI
PSI @ 1 GPM
Summary
If you require a flud pressure of 7 PSI at your dispense valve, with a viscosity of 1 Centipoise, at a fluid flow rate of 1 GPM through 1 feet of 1 inch I.D. hose / pipe, you will require a pump that can produce a minimum fluid pressure of:
PSI @ 1 GPM
Note:
Recommended cycle rate for a continuous duty pump circulation system (PCS) is 12 cpm.
Recommended cycle rate for a intermittent duty, dead headed spray system is 20 cpm.
