Heber water treatment plant
One of California’s largest utility sandblasters was struggling to meet their timeline for the project completion of a very large five million gallon tank. The 30 mil’s of coating had proved difficult to remove and had caused delays in the project schedule.
We tested GMAX GX2 Garnet, to remove the 30 mil coating, blasted at 150 sqft/hr which is twice as fast as they were blasting. Consumption of the GX2 Garnet was 900lbs/hr, much less than the slag. Dust levels were reduced by 70%, allowing the blasters to see a lot clearer.
|GMA GX2 Garnet||Slag|
|Abrasive used||900 lbs||1,600 lbs|
|Area blasted||150 sqft||75 sqft|
|Hours blasted||1 hr||1 hr|
|Blasting production rate||150 sqft/hr||75 sqft|
|Abrasive consumption||6 lbs/sqft||21 lbs/sqft|
The higher production allowed the contractor to complete the job on time avoiding any costly demurrage charges. The blasters were convinced that with GMA GX2 Garnet, they could get more done everyday, and go home 90% cleaner.
