MontiPower MBX® Belts / Wheels

MBX® Wheels/Belts are engineered for use with Monti Power MBX® Tools, ensuring ongoing OEM performance in surface preparation, coating removal, weld seam finishing and more. The MBX line from Monti-Power is the first product they developed. (Bristle Blaster wheels came later.) 

MBX Selected performance characteristics:

• Fine belts.  Less than ½ mil profile.
• Medium belts.  Typical profile from ½ to ¾ mil.
• Coarse belts.  Typical profile from ¾ to 1-½ mil.  Note:  Coarse belts are not typically used on vehicles.
• Belt life.  Varies from a minimum of 20 minutes up to an hour plus, depending on how much coating is being removed.
• Zapper® wheel.  Does not leave residue, other than dust (similar to eraser dust).  Light cleaning with alcohol is recommended after use.
• Zapper® life. Typically at least 60 minutes of continuous use. With intermittent use, it can last months.
• Ultimate Zapper® wheel.   May leave a silicone residue, and cleaning with alcohol is recommended after use.
• Ultimate Zapper life.  The silicone material of this wheel is very durable and typically lasts 8x the life of the regular Zapper.

Selected Application examples:

• Mobility.  Vehicles are the legacy use case for MBX wheels, with additional applications now including boats and aircraft.
• Signage.  The Zapper® line is excellent for decal and adhesive removal without damaging the substrate or coating.
• Steel fabrication.  Weld cleaning is just one of the many applications where the carbon steel belts excel.
• Screen printing.  The glue used on the screen frames is often removed with these belts, especially the 43mm wide version.
• DIY.  General / occasional surface prep is another common application, with the 43mm wide version being most common in the DIY market.

Carbon Steel MBX® Belts are primarily used on carbon steel substrates.  Coarse, medium, and fine bristles are available with Coarse having angled tips and Medium being the most universal.  It is best practice to start any new project with a lighter wheel and move up to medium or coarse if it becomes necessary. Stainless Steel MBX® Belts are intended for stainless / aluminum substrates and any application where a less aggressive treatment may be desirable. The Zapper eraser wheels are intended to remove decals and adhesives without damaging the underlying coating, but do not remove coating or rust.

Belt/Equipment Interchangeability:  MBX belts, although designed specifically for use with MBX tools, can also be used on Bristle Blaster tools if the accelerator bars are removed. That being said, in electric applications, Zapper eraser wheels are best suited for use with the MBX Variometric tool, due the adjustable speed that tool offers.
