Why is Your Newly Blasted Steel Sweating or ‘Gingering Off’?

Humidity will cause steel to sweat or ‘ginger off’, and if you are experiencing this before you get the chance to paint, you are in need of a dehumidifier. This humidity is crucial because it can cause the steel to become vulnerable to flash rusting and corrosion. With the dehumidifier, you can keep the relative humidity below 50%. Also, the blast can be held for days before painting, but only with the air dehumidified.

There are machines available for a cooler climate and for a hot, humid climate.

The greatest perk with having a dehumidifier is that you can blast an entire tank, clean up the whole area and then paint the whole tank at once. This will save energy and time as you will not be stopping and starting to repeat the blast and paint processes each day.

AS A CONTRACTOR, YOU CAN SAVE 3 DAYS ON A 7 DAY PROJECT, WITH A DEHUMIDIFIER

When humidity is high, get a dehumidifier.
