Blast Hose Safety Checklist

BLASTHOSE SAFETY CHECKLIST
Quick daily inspection steps for blast hose, couplings, and nozzle holders.
Daily Use Checklist

✅ Daily Inspection
  • Perform a visual check of the entire hose before blasting.
  • Look for cracks, splits, bubbles, or holes in the outer casing.
  • Inspect hose couplings for tight fit, damage, or excessive wear.
✅ Squeeze Test
  • Squeeze the hose every 6 inches along its length.
  • Ensure the hose feels firm and resistant.
  • If any section feels soft or easily compressible, mark it for replacement.
✅ Typical Wear Zones
  • Pay close attention to bends, areas near couplings, and sections that rub against surfaces.
  • Check if the hose has been run over sharp edges or forced into tight bends.
✅ Replace or Repair
  • Replace the hose immediately if multiple soft spots, cracks, or bubbling are found.
  • If wear is localized near an end, cut off the damaged section and reattach the coupling (only if safe and secure).
✅ Safe Hose Layout
  • Keep hose runs as straight and untwisted as possible.
  • Avoid sharp bends over an operator’s shoulder or tight corners.
  • Ensure hose routing prevents tripping hazards.

Inspecting Hose Couplings & Nozzle Holders

🔍 Visual Inspection
  • Look for cracks, dents, or chips in the coupling or holder.
  • Check for deformation (out-of-round, bent, or warped surfaces).
  • Inspect for corrosion or rust that could weaken metal parts.
  • On nylon or aluminum parts, check for excessive abrasion or thinning.
  • If screws are raised or backed out of the coupling/nozzle holder, the hose needs refit.
Note: Please cut below the bottom screw hole and follow the fitting process (scan QR code).
🔗 Fit & Connection
  • Ensure couplings fit tightly to each other and the blast hose (no looseness).
  • Gaskets should be present and:
  • Free from cracks, wear, or flattening
  • Soft and pliable (not hardened)
  • Verify that the safety pins/clips are in place and engage fully.
🧰 Nozzle Holder Check
  • Inspect the internal threads for wear, cross-threading, or stripping.
  • Nozzle should seat firmly and not wobble inside the holder.
  • Check the nozzle washer seal (if applicable) for wear or missing parts.
⚠️ Replacement Indicators
Replace couplings or nozzle holders if:
  • There are visible cracks, heavy wear, or missing pieces.
  • The gasket won’t seal properly or is missing.
  • The nozzle feels loose even when tightened.
  • The coupling connection is loose, misaligned, or leaks air/abrasive.
